Feels Like Home After Three Babies and Life-saving Experience
Linnea Peters and her husband Michael of Minnetonka have grown very fond of Maple Grove Hospital. They are the first family to deliver three babies at Maple Grove Hospital since its opening in 2009. The Peters family have been blessed with two beautiful daughters and an adorable son.
In February 2010, their first daughter Georgiana was born healthy but not without giving them a little scare. “During the course of labor our nurse noticed that Georgiana’s umbilical cord had dropped, making it very dangerous for her and her ability to receive oxygen. We needed to get her out as soon as possible. I was quickly whisked away for an emergency c-section,” explains Linnea. “It all happened so fast. It was like a bad dream. However, during the whole traumatic experience we had faith and knew we were in excellent care. The Family Birth Center team treated us with such tremendous kindness and is definitely in a league of their own. We are especially thankful for Terri Smith who was the nurse that discovered the prolapsed cord. She saved Georgiana’s life and we are eternally grateful to her.”
Fourteen months later in April 2011, their second daughter, Anneli came into the world happy, healthy and adored by her big sister Georgiana. “Our second baby experience at Maple Grove Hospital was just as rewarding but thankfully a little less traumatic. The care we received from everyone in the Family Birth Center was just as extraordinary as our first experience. It’s hard to describe the outstanding level of personalized care at Maple Grove Hospital. It feels like you are the only patient being taken care of in the entire hospital. All of the staff and volunteers go out of their way to make sure you and your family have everything you need. I tell all of my friends and family who are expecting that you need to deliver at Maple Grove Hospital. It’s such an incredible experience, you won’t want to leave,” notes Linnea.
In August, Linnea and Michael welcomed their third baby, a son, Franz Joseph or FJ as he is lovingly called by his family. “We had another great experience with all of our doctors and nurses. And, Terri was once again a part of our nursing team who delivered our precious baby boy. It was reassuring to have Terri with us again since she knows us so well and has had such an enormous impact on our lives. We look forward to seeing Terri again in the future when we have baby number four,” says Linnea. Terri shares the same admiration for the Peters family. “I am always so happy to see Linnea, Mike and their entire family. They have a special place in my heart. It has been such a wonderful experience to be there for all three of their births. All three have been very unique experiences. They have such a beautiful family and I can't wait to see them again next year,” exclaims Terri Smith, RN, Family Birth Center.
