Classes and Tours

Maple Grove Hospital offers the following classes:

6 Week Childbirth Class            Weekend Childbirth Class

Breastfeeding Class                  Big Brother Big Sister Class

The 6 week class and BabyMoon class each have 12 hours of instruction and the same topics are covered in each class.

This class is for expectant parents who have not previously taken a childbirth class. This six week class will give you the opportunity to experience:

• Increased retention of information and coping skills for labor.
• Decreased anxiety about pregnancy, labor and birth with six weeks of support from a birth professional.
• Support from other pregnant families.

Bring 2 pillows to practice labor techniques with your partner. You may bring snacks.  It is recommended that you begin this class in approximately the 28-30th week of your pregnancy.

• Challenges and joys of pregnancy
• Labor process
• Birthing options
• Cesarean birth
• Breathing, relaxation and labor support
• Care of the newborn
• Adjustment to your new role as parents
• Tour of the Family Birth Center at Maple Grove Hospital

Cost: $110

TIME: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

This class is for expectant parents who have not previously taken a childbirth class. During this class you will also have opportunities to get to know other expectant parents.

This class is offered with a 9a.m. Sunday start time, or a 12 noon Sunday start time.

Classes located at Maple Grove Hospital

Most professionals agree that breastfeeding benefits both mother and baby in many ways. Taking this class will help you decide if breastfeeding is the right choice for you and your baby. We will give you tips for success, such as: how to recognize of your baby’s hunger cues, how to know if your baby is nursing well, pumping and storage information for time away from your baby and much more. Both parents are encouraged to attend.

Cost: $25

Time: 7 -9 p.m.

In this class, children three and older will explore their new role through art, storytelling and touring the Family Birth Center. Sometimes we even see a baby!

An adult must attend class with child.

Time: 6:30-7:30

Fee: $25 per family
